Instructions for Reapplicants

How to reapply if it’s less than 2 years* since you last applied

(*Two years means within four exam windows, including the one for which you were approved):

To calculate the two-year span mentioned to the left, use as a starting point the first exam window for which you were approved.

Update your online profile (personal and employment contact information) using the online CAPS portal.

Select the Education Pathway for reapplicants that says:   “I was already approved and am reapplying for eligibility to take the exam” and follow the instructions.

How to reapply if you have to cancel the Exam, but know when you want to take it

If you are delaying your exam and are within your 2-year approval (see the two-year span mentioned above) use as a starting point the first exam window for which you were approved.

Be sure to notify Prometric Testing of your change in plans at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time.  This timely notification will allow us to hold your exam fee for a future exam window.

You will be contacted to register for the next exam after the current exam window has closed.

How to reapply if it’s more than 2 years since you last applied

If you are reapplying more than 2 years since your original approval, you will need to update your IH work experience and meet all current eligibility requirements.

Use the online CAPS portal to:

  • Update your profile (personal, contact, employment, professional information).
  • Select the Education Pathway for reapplicants that says:   “I was already approved and am reapplying for eligibility to take the exam” and follow the instructions.
  • Make an application fee payment of $150.00.
  • Send a PRQ form to your current supervisor for completion and return.

Have your current supervisor email the completed Professional Reference Questionnaire to ABIH@abih.org.  Remember; all reference questionnaires should be completed by the person providing the reference and emailed directly to ABIH; they cannot be sent to ABIH by the applicant.

How to reapply if your file has been destroyed

Your application is kept for three years without activity before it is destroyed. If you are reapplying after three years or longer you must submit a new application. Click here for instructions.
